Job Description

We are searching for an experienced Lead 2D Artist, who will work as a part of the existing team to create exciting art for our social and mobile games.This is a great position for a self-motivated, organized candidate who will create art for our games, create concepts and lead our existing 2D artist team.

Responsibilities

  • Leading/Building a team of 2D artists
  • Create high quality character models, game environment surfaces, and GUI graphics to game engine specifications. Artwork for characters, items and locations can be made using a variety of techniques, from photo processing to freehand drawing
  • Full cycle of art development, from sketches to concept art to final images
  • Produce character roughs and refined topologies for gameplay requirements.
  • Interpret briefs and analyze real world animals in order to create believable and relatable characters and game interfaces.
  • Define realistic and stylized characters while working closely with product owner, CEO and design team.
  • Leverage traditional art and anatomy skills in order to define features and details on any given character or creature design.
  • Drive the project’s visual standards by creating assets that inspire internal and external artists.
  • Optimize models, materials, and textures to maximize performance on target platform.
  • Utilize material and texture tools to surface approved sculpts.
  • Help to plan, organize, and estimate character and deliverables.

 

Skills Required

  • Expert skills and experience using related character creation tools and software packages.
  • Consistent follow through on character projects from concept to final quality in game assets.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently on a given character design or detail.
  • Character experience and expertise in material, texture painting, and surfacing.
  • 3 or more titles shipped on a high end console, PC, or cinematic as a Senior Artist or Lead Character Artist.
  • Portfolio demonstrating a wide variety of character and/or creature development.
  • Full cycle of art development, from sketches to concept art to final images
  • Outstanding creativity and imagination
  • Good understanding of pixel and vector graphics and their specifics
  • Solid knowledge of basic CG tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash)
  • Advanced experience in at least two of them
  • Impressive-looking portfolio
  • Desire to learn and grow as a professional

  • A passion for creating and developing best in class characters and related elements.
  • Stays up to date with trends, software, and technology related to the creation of complex characters
  • Proven experience in workflows, software, and techniques related to the creation of characters
  • Strong foundational skills including anatomy, design, and color theory
  • Ability to clearly articulate, demo and present creature related topics to small and large groups
  • Must have the ability to professionally take and give constructive criticism
  • Ability to efficiently describe and document improvement requests for new tools, pipelines, and processes
  • Maintain a high level of quality while working with multiple teams that have timelines and dependencies
  • Degree in related field
